Meet Isabel
My name is Isabel Perez and I am running for SUSD Board Trustee Area 1 because I want to ensure that all students, especially those facing difficult circumstances, have access to the support, opportunities and positive environment they need to succeed. As a former foster youth and someone who has overcome significant obstacles, I understand firsthand the struggles many of our students face. I’m committed to creating equitable opportunities for every student, advocating for policies that support their well- being, and fostering a learning environment where they can thrive.
I grew up in a chaotic and dysfunctional environment, with parents involved in drugs and crime. After dropping out of school, I became a young mother and realized I needed to change my life for my son. I enrolled in the San Jose Conservation Corps, where I earned my diploma and learned invaluable life skills. Despite facing tremendous challenges, including the tragic loss of my partner, I found strength and support through the school and rebuilt my life.
On the SUSD Board of Trustees I will work tirelessly to ensure that every student has the resources and support they need to reach their full potential. I am dedicated to fostering a school system that prioritizes the well-being of all students, promotes equity, and prepares them for a bright future.
I am honored to seek the support of the community as we work together to ensure a brighter future for the students and schools of Area 1.
